Orphanage Relief FRUA-New England is committed to supporting the Waiting Children of Eastern Europe. We have identified two areas of support to focus our efforts. We welcome your ideas and participation in these projects! For more information on Orphanage Support, visit the FRUA national website www.frua.org or contact Victoria Barrett , the New England Chapter’s orphanage support coordinator. The Big Sister Ukraine program trains women in the community to interact with young children in the local orphanage in their towns -- they visit regularly to hold the infants and play with the toddlers. Led by MarynaVaschenko, a doctoral student at Tufts, the student group Child’s Right to Thrive supports waiting children throughout the world. Our chapter’s spring Silpada Jewelry sale is a wonderful opportunity to bring local FRUA members and friends and family together in support of Big Sister
The FRUA Playground Fund supports an annual playground-building project through the purchase and installation of state-of-the-art therapeutic playground equipment at orphanages and rehabilitation centers each serving over 300 residential orphans and community children from ages 4-18 with severe physical and/or emotional disabilities. The
FRUA Coffee Project. Need something to take to a party hostess? Can’t think of what to give your children’s favorite teacher? Keep a case of FRUA coffee on hand and support orphanage relief efforts at the same time. Go to www.frua.org and shop for coffee and tea specially roasted for FRUA. The labels are artfully done and when paired with a FRUA coffee mug makes a meaningful gift!
